Who are we?

We are a group of kids from South Florida, ranging in ages from 6 - teen years. We meet weekly for rehearsals and perform special concerts throughout the year. We perform classical music, melodies from musicals, Christmas carols, and traditional American songs.

More about us!

YASO was founded in January 2009 by Diane Osborne, Conductor. Diane has a violin and piano studio in Lake Placid, FL, is a concert violinist (Osborne Ministries) and has performed all over the United States, as well as Alaska, and the Ukraine.

YASO is made up of children and young people who love music and play violin, viola, cello, and double bass. Families come from as far away as Port St. Lucie, as well as Avon Park, Sebring, and Lake Placid to play in this orchestra. In 2014, YASO JR. was started for beginner students.  The groups rehearse every Thursday from 4:00-6:15pm.

The only requirement is that they take private music lessons.  YASO has performed before hundreds of enthusiastic people, including the Heartland Orchestra Concert 2010, Champion for Children in 2011, the Lake Placid Conference Center Community Christmas Extravaganza 2010, 2011, 2012, and the Sebring Circle Theatre Christmas Extravaganza 2013.  In addition, several concerts are given within the community.

Two local teachers/performers assist Diane Osborne in this wonderful privilege of working with these talented young people: Peggy Essex-Klammer ( teaches viola and cello -Lake Placid) and Bill Hawthorne (teaches cello and double bass - Avon Park).
